Evolution is in the DNA of METRA industry. The continuous investments and the constant update of our resources have contributed to the creation of a brand that today is recognized all over the world for its quality standards.
The Bertoli, Giacomelli, Marinelli and Zanetti families found IMET, a company that produces extruded profiles, forerunner to METRA, a professionally managed company, today recognized internationally as leader in the aluminium sector.
The transition is permitted by the establishment of a technical and commercial department dedicated to Industry.
Know-how and development make it possible to achieve increasingly complex projects in the mechanical component and transport sectors.
The acquisition of Altex Extrusion, which will become METRA Aluminum, the flagship of METRA production, forms part of this journey of exponential growth.
A new production company joins the METRA family. IMET, based in Serravalle Scrivia, is dedicated to the production of lightweight extrusions with finishes of high aesthetic value.
METRA is among the first companies in Europe to use a 6000 ton press in its production.
METRA adopts three innovative 30-metre numerical control lines, the first in Italy, among few in Europe.
Investments continue with the purchase of a management software capable of controlling the entire production chain in a single solution.
A new automated warehouse with 6000 locations for an immediate response thanks to just-in-time supply.
With the objective of Green production and continuous improvement of the finished product, METRA makes significant investments in the foundry to optimize the recycling phases and improve the quality of the alloys.
From 3000 t to 4000 t with greater billet diameter, an important revamping for the transport sectors.
From 2200 to 1600 with special cooling tunnel to create structural extrusions with low thickness and complex geometries (BIW).
Transformation of the 6500 ton press into a 7500 ton press; the new capacity enables the extrusion of profiles of 70 kg/linear meter, 30 metres in length with a total weight of 600 kg/bar.
Continuing investment in vertical integration. New welding activity with the installation of a welding portal and an 8-metre machining portal, and a welding portal and a 30-metre machining portal.
